How come I only have Insomnia in summer?

I only get insomnia in summer. But it’s a weird type of insomnia. When I lay in bed and cant fall asleep I start twitching. First I get an itch and then twitch. It happened every 5 minutes. It keeps me up for about 3 hours but then can finally sleep. But it only happens in Summer. In winter I can sleep fine. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with me?

  • Hello!

This is most likely caused by the heat, the allergens, and pollutions that are heavy in the summer air. I would suggest getting a bedside fan for summer, and turning it on low and pointing it al your face. I also suffer from summer insomnia, waking up a 20 minute intervals. This is the only thing that seems to help me. I would also try washing your face or going for a cold swim before bed. This will just lower your over body tempature, and your body would want to go into " hybernation" mood and make you sleep as opposed to keeping you up twitching.

Not sure about the twitching, could just be your on the verge of sleep. But I learned about this once, a theory of insomnia being investigated is the brain getting to hot for some to be able to sleep. However it’s still in testing but so far is showing to be true. Clients with a cool cloths on their head slept easier. Also those in cooler rooms rather than hot
