It probably is the Symbicort. One of the drugs in Symbicort is formoterol, a long acting beta2-adrenergic agonist. It is not uncommon for people to have insomnia because formoterol has some stimulating actions. As a result people can have a bit of a tremor, increased anxiety, or insomnia.
I assume you use the Symbicort twice daily? So that mild stimulation the drug causes is still occurring when you try to sleep.
One option is to see your doctor about an alternative. The second medication in Symbicort is budesonide, a glucocorticoid. It is available without formoterol, so the medication Pulmicort Flexhaler just has the steroid which is often enough for most people.
Or Flovent (fluticasone) is also another option.
I’m guessing your not American due to using metrics and I don’t know if you are Canadian. Drug names are different around the world so Pulmicort Flexhaler or Flovent might have a completely different brand name.
It is ideal if you can eliminate the cause of your insomnia rather than treat a symptom so I would start there.
Alternatively, depending on your age, you might consider an over the counter sleeping medication at a very low dose for a week or so. Sometimes the side effects get better so you could wait it out and an over the counter sleeping medication might help so you can get some sleep. Basically there are two medications diphenhydramine and doxylamine. However if you do use either drug only use it short term.
Adderall.
I also have issues with insomnia. I posted my question on wish123 and got an answer from an expert who solved my problem. Highly recommend the website.
