Can anyone help me with my sleep issues? Prescription sedatives question.?

Hello, I’ve had insomnia for about a year now, I’ve tried several different sleeping medications, but none of them seem to work just right. I started with Xanax, 4 milligrams a night, that stopped working after 4 months, it must be a tolerance issue. I then was started on Seroquel XR, but I didn’t like how long it took to work.

I then was started on Seroquel instant release, at first, it was 300 milligrams, that didn’t help much, I was switched doses to 600 milligrams, it worked great for my sleeping problems, but I was experiencing what I think was overdose issues. while the sedation effect kicked in after 20 minutes of drinking it, I started to experience trouble breathing, and my pulse would drop to about 45, it felt terrible, I would think I was dying of cardiac arrest.

I just started Trazadone Hydrochloride 300 milligrams, but it takes 600 milligrams just to give me mild sedation. Is there any powerful sedative that anyone reading this knows of any powerful prescription medication that won’t give me any heart or breathing trouble? I’ve read that hydroxyzine works very well, what are your opinions? This will be very appreciated, my doctor seems to know nothing about treating severe insomnia, thank you very much for your responses.
FYI, I forgot to mention I was also started on temazepam a month ago, I took 30 30MG pills and felt no effects, I must have an extreme tolerance to benzos now.
One other thing I just remember, I’ve also tried 300 milligrams of diphenhydramine, that had completely no effect. (Tylenol PM) the one with just diphenhydramine in it.

i think that you should move on to other forms of treatment i also would think that you dont have a very good doctor if he is consistantly prescribing you such dangerous medications and it is more than apparent that your dr. doesnt know what he is doing. most big hospitals have sleep disorder clinics, maybe you should check into one, try homeopathic treatments, drink chamamile tea, there is also melatonin, there are many options available to you you also have to want to try other things but it seems to me that you like having these drugs take over your life and if that is the case you also need to go to detox, good luck

Before you even attempt taking what I’m about to tell you, you need to flush your system of those medications.
Then after that is done, you may try brewing a couple leaves of soursop(graviola) and drink a cup(use measuring cup) just before you go to bed. It shouldn’t give you heart trouble or breathing problems.
    Other helpful tips:
If you are around electronics (computer, cell phone etc) all the time, you pick up static from these things which not only mess with the normal functioning of your body but messes hugely with your brain (especially the cell/mobile phone). TV is also included here along with Ipods etc
Quit usage at least an hour before bed.

During the evening like after work/school if it is possible. go outside in your yard in a clean spot, kick off your flip flops or socks and sneakers and rest your feet directly on the earth.
This aids in discharging the static that your body has picked up during the day.

Relieve stresses of the day as much as possible.

when your eyes starts to feel heavy, its time to go sleep.

hypnotics are not good to take on a regular basis, try not drinking coffee and listen to relaxing music instead or masturbate….drugs are not the way to go in my opinion

Hello. By any chance, have you tried the natural and traditional sleep remedies?

Chamomile Tea and Lavender Tea are some of the most reliable teas against insomnia. When you try these out, just be sure that your taking these herb-based teas do not counter-act with any of your existing medication.

You can find here a comprehensive list of teas against insomnia:

you should try a mix of an anti anxiety med with seroquel, i had insomnia and nothing worked til i took 2mg of atavan with 150mg of seroquel, at first it gives you the sensation of being really high, like you just smoked a fat blunt by yourself then you get really calm and then finally you should get sleepy.

Smoke Marijuana before going to bed, you may have to try around until you find a strain that sufficiently sedates you, but once you find that strain you won’t have any problem going to sleep. Marijuana is MUCH SAFER than most of the prescription sleep aids, there’s no risk of you not waking up if you smoke a little too much marijuana. Marijuana is physically impossible to overdose on as well, so I would recommend you at least try it.

Here is a link to a good sleep hypnotherapy cd. You owe it to yourself to try something natural, gentle, and without side effects. Good luck.
